I have always hated doing laundry. Not just because it never seems to end…but because of my allergies. After about 2 minutes of folding laundry I would start sneezing and my nose would not stop running. My kids and I have had issues with eczema and itchiness for as long as I can remember, and it wasn’t just seasonal. I started researching the products we were using and after switching household cleaners, the laundry was the last culprit. I had already switched to scent free (all-clear) liquid detergents and still had no relief.
After researching liquid detergents I found that Fragrance additives in detergents often lead to allergic reactions such as rashes and respiratory issues.
They can include carcinogens and disrupt endocrine function. They’re rarely disclosed on labels of course…
So, one day my daughters and I started trying different recipes and we started making our own laundry detergent. It’s been 2 years since the misery stopped! I still have to do laundry…. but I no longer have allergic reactions to it. I want to help other families avoid those issues as well.
